چکیده

Tuta absoluta is a pest of importance: quick to disperse and difficult control due the cases resistance insecticide active ingredients. Thus, studies using essential oils (EOs) search for new molecules should be intensified. The objective present study was evaluate toxicity EOs from Citrus aurantifolia (lime), aurantium (petitgrain) bergamia (bergamot) its major compounds against T. in topical application test. Additionally, demographic parameters were studied after EOs. median lethal time (LT50) population 12h three tested. concentration (LC50) 33.75, 38.78 35.05 µg µL−1 C. aurantifolia, bergamia, respectively. As found gas chromatography coupled mass spectrometry (GC-MS) quantification, 44.74% EO α-terpineol, while 55.45% 58.12% respectively, linalyl acetate. tested at concentrations equivalent LC50 EOs, that is, 16.2 25.8 acetate, application. Both showed less than In sublethal effects tests, all negatively affected absoluta, with decrease duration larval instars, pupal period, fecundity, oviposition viability eggs, implying reduction growth this pest. lime, petitgrain bergamot are toxic low cause deleterious on reproductive absoluta.

Spinosad and the Tomato Borer Tuta absoluta: A Bioinsecticide, an Invasive Pest Threat, and High Insecticide Resistance

The introduction of an agricultural pest species into a new environment is a potential threat to agroecosystems of the invaded area. The phytosanitary concern is even greater if the introduced pest's phenotype expresses traits that will impair the management of that species. The invasive tomato borer, Tuta absoluta (Meyrick) (Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae), is one such species and the characterizati...

Nitrogen and water availability to tomato plants triggers bottom-up effects on the leafminer Tuta absoluta

This study examined the effects of various levels of nitrogen inputs (optimal, insufficient and excessive) and water inputs (optimal, low drought and high drought) to tomato plants (Solanum lycopersicum) on survival and development of an invasive tomato leafminer, Tuta absoluta (Meytick) (Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae). Plant growth i.e. plant height and the number of nodes declined under insufficie...

The tomato borer, Tuta absoluta, invading the Mediterranean Basin, originates from a single introduction from Central Chile

The Lepidopteran pest of tomato, Tuta absoluta, is native to South America and is invasive in the Mediterranean basin. The species' routes of invasion were investigated. The genetic variability of samples collected in South America, Europe, Africa and Middle East was analyzed using microsatellite markers to infer precisely the source of the invasive populations and to test the hypothesis of a s...

Functional Responses of Three Neotropical Mirid Predators to Eggs of Tuta absoluta on Tomato

Tuta absoluta (Meyrick) has quickly developed into a significant tomato pest worldwide. While the recently found mirid predators Macrolophus basicornis (Stal), Engytatus varians (Distant) and Campyloneuropsis infumatus (Carvalho) of this pest are able to establish and reproduce on tomato, biological knowledge of these mirids is still limited. Here we describe the functional response of the thre...

Population Growth Parameters of Tuta absoluta (Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae) on Tomato Plant Using Organic Substrate and Biofertilizers

The tomato leafminer, Tuta absoluta (Meyrick) is a devastating pest associated with tomato. In this study, effects of tomato plants treated with vermicompost (20, 40, and 60%), humic fertilizer (2, 4 and 6 g/kg soil) and plant growth promoting rhizobacteria (Pseudomonas fluorescens and Bacillus subtilis) were investigated on the life table parameters of T. absoluta in a growth chamber at 25 ± 2...
